19 days left for “Structure and Void”

If you have not had the chance to see Richard Elaver’s exhibition Structure and Void stop by take a look today! We have enjoyed having Elaver’s work in the Overcash Gallery and sharing the artwork with our Gallery visitors. There are only a few weeks left in the show and they will fly by quickly!

Gallery Hours: Monday-Thursday 10:00-2:00 p.m.

A Few Weeks Left!

Be sure to stop by and see I Am My Things and My Things Are Me by Allison Tierney. This exhibition closes on March 12. Tierney’s exhibition focuses on maintaining a sustainable art practice. Rather than making art from new materials, she develops ways to reuse and recycle found objects, or art waste from her own studio. “Green Weave” (pictured above) currently hangs in the back room of the Ross Gallery. We would love to share with you the story behind this piece, as well as the rest of Tierney’s work.

Gallery Hours Monday – Thursday 10-2p.m.

A Hands On Challenge

Happy Monday everyone! While passing by the Overcash Gallery, you may notice that we have a tinker space set up. For those willing to take up the challenge we invite you all to try building a dodecahedron. Artist Richard Elaver graciously left us with extra pieces of his cardboard laser cut wall piece “Dodec”, in hopes that our students may have the desire to try building one themselves. Quite a few of you have tried it already and succeeded!

Elaver’s exhibition Structure and Void is open through March 12. Stop by today and we will give you a tour of his work!

Gallery Hours Monday-Thursday 10-2 p.m.

A Joy Forever: Asian Brush Painting

Fresh for spring semester we have new exhibits up at several campuses!

Currently at The Bill and Patty Gorelick Gallery Levine Campus, we are honored to showcase the works of Barbara Rizza Mellin. Working with traditional Chinese brush painting techniques and incorporating modern floral and foliage subjects, she creates stunning and vibrant paintings that are such a welcome, uplifting experience this time of year. In addition, she has generously supplied a bounty of her working materials which are also on display, providing us with a deeper look into her process. This is a show that is not to be missed.

The exhibit runs until the end of June at Levine Campus and then opens at the Cato Campus in July.

This Week in The Gallery

Join us this Wednesday for an artist lecture featuring one of our currently exhibiting artists, Allison Tierney and her exhibition ‘I Am My Things and My Things Are Me’. The lecture will be held Wednesday, February 5 at 3:30 p.m.,  Overcash Center, 2nd floor, Tate Hall. Students will learn how Ms. Tierney uses repurposed materials, as well as art waste from her own studio, to craft her designs.

Following the lecture we would like to invite everyone to the opening reception, which will be held in the Overcash Center, 1st floor, Ross Gallery. Our guests will be treated to some light refreshments in the gallery, and a chance to meet Ms. Tierney in person!
