Central Piedmont is preparing for its Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) reaffirmation in 2024. Our accreditation is vitally important since it impacts the college’s ability to award degrees, diplomas, and certificates to students – just like you.  It even affects your ability to receive financial aid from the U.S. Department of Education.

As a student, YOU are important to this process! Here’s where you come in: We need your help to develop the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), which is a requirement of the college’s SACSCOC reaffirmation process. The QEP topic will focus on an issue Central Piedmont can improve upon that deals with student learning outcomes and/or student success.

The QEP Topic Selection Team has reviewed various internal and external documents to identify possible student success themes and drafted questions to gather your feedback around the themes during Campus Conversations this past April. Now, you get to vote on your top theme. The top theme will then be narrowed into a QEP topic later this semester.

Here is a link to the QEP Topic Selection Survey. Please complete the survey by the end of the day on Sunday, Sept. 5.

You will also have the opportunity later to help in the coming months by:

  • submitting a research proposal this fall that further narrows the focus of our QEP

We look forward to hearing from you!

The survey can be taken on any device including your phone; however, we recommend using a desktop or laptop computer, iPad, or other tablet devices for the best experience.

We want to hear from you — your opinions of and experiences at Central Piedmont are so important to us! That’s why we developed the Student Voices Survey Series. It’s from our Planning and Research team and will be made available to students at the end of the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Each student will receive one survey; however, the type of survey in the series will depend on the student. There are currently four surveys in the series (New Student Survey, Continuing Student Survey, Graduate Survey, Alumni Survey).

As a thank you for participating in this survey series, you will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card. Each survey in the series will have a separate drawing for a gift card. The survey links will be emailed to your Central Piedmont account and we will use that email for the drawing. Once you complete the survey, we will receive a notification and will enter your email into the drawing.

An invitation to complete your assigned survey will be sent to your Central Piedmont email account. A link to your individual survey will be sent at the end of each semester that you are a student and for at least three years after graduation as an alumni. View a description of the surveys and when you will take each one.

Easy Research Participation Opportunity

Dear Central Piedmont Community College Student,

My name is Deninne Pritchett and I am an instructor at Central Piedmont. I am working as a student researcher under the direction of Dr. Nancy Bridier in the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University.  I am conducting a research study to explore first-generation college students (FGCS) experiences with social involvement and what role this plays upon their persistence in higher education. For this study, understanding FGCS persistence in higher education will allow stakeholders to know why FGCS describe social involvement as influencing their persistence, provide a platform for FGCS experiences with social involvement, and prompt the discussion for what community colleges can do to maintain or increase social involvement opportunities at the college to support FGCS.

You may be eligible to participate in this study. The investigator of this study can determine your eligibility. Participation in this study is voluntary and no compensation is provided. The participant must be 18 yrs. or older, identify as FGCS, enrolled in a degree-seeking program with no more than one semester off to complete the 22-question questionnaire to determine FGCS social involvement experiences at community college. The results of the questionnaire will be downloaded, and participants will be assigned a numerical identifier, which means your identity will remain confidential. I would like to notify you in advance, there are no foreseeable risks or discomforts to participants.

All participant responses will be strictly confidential. No personal identifiable information will be attached to the interview data since each record will be coded and labeled with an identification number rather than personal or organization names. While the results of this study may be used in reports, presentations, or publications, no names will not be used in these media and will only be used in the collective form. The recorded media files and any field notes of the participant’s interview will be data encrypted and reside on secured password protected digital media and locked in a fireproof safe that only I, as the researcher, will have access to for 3 years and then destroyed.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. If you have any questions concerning this research study, or participation in it, please contact me, Deninne Pritchett, at dpritchett01@my.gcu.edu. If you have any questions about the rights of subjects/participants in this research, you can contact the Chair of the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board, through the College of Doctoral Studies at (602) 639-7804.

If you would prefer not to participate, please disregard this message and do nothing.

If you agree to participate, please click on the link below to be directed to the informed consent page of the questionnaire.
