Apply Now for 2024-25 Scholarships

foundation logoThe Central Piedmont Foundation Student Scholarship Portal will open on Thurs., Feb. 1, 2024.

To apply for financial support that can significantly aid your educational journey, log in to the portal and complete the general application. Our scholarships, both need-based and merit-based, cater to various criteria – including your major, community involvement, special interests, and creative talents. We encourage all students to seize this opportunity to alleviate the monetary demands of college education.

Please note that most Foundation scholarships necessitate a minimum GPA of either 2.0 or 2.5. Eligibility is contingent upon enrolling in a certificate, diploma, or degree program at Central Piedmont. The awarding of scholarships depends on the criteria established by our donors and fund availability, hence the importance of applying early. Remember that submitting a scholarship application is competitive and does not guarantee funding. Additionally, scholarships may not cover the entire cost of tuition and fees nor guarantee additional funding in subsequent sessions or terms.

A valuable tip: When submitting your general application, explore the “Other Recommended Opportunities” section, which lists scholarships with additional questions and requirements. If you meet the criteria for these opportunities, we highly encourage you to apply. While not mandatory, completing these additional applications increases your chances of receiving a scholarship.

It is important to remember that scholarship applications at Central Piedmont must be re-submitted each academic year.

The final deadline to apply for scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year is Sat., Aug. 31, 2024.

Central Piedmont Offers Debt-free College Options

Students on Central Piedmont Community College campusAs of August  20, Central Piedmont Community College has disbursed almost $1.1 million in North Carolina Longleaf Commitment Grant funding to more than 1,300 students enrolled in fall 2021 classes.

The North Carolina Longleaf Commitment Grant program was launched by Governor Roy Cooper last May to provide 2021 North Carolina high school graduates, who planned to attend a North Carolina community college, with financial assistance to cover their tuition and fees toward a two-year degree or attaining transfer credit.

As part of the program, full-time eligible students are guaranteed to receive $700 to $2,800 per academic year, for a total of two years. Part-time students may receive a partial award. The Longleaf Commitment Grant ends at the conclusion of the 2023 spring semester.

With this funding in mind, Central Piedmont reminds area residents that:

  • debt-free college is possible thanks to the upwards of $3 million in scholarships and grants it is able to provide, and
  • seats remain available for the fall semester, including classes in its upcoming four- and eight-week sessions. The college’s four-week sessions begin on Sept. 13, Oct. 13, and Nov. 10. Central Piedmont’s second eight-week session starts on Oct. 13.

New FAFSA Rules Make Applying Easier

Good news for students: applying for financial aid just got a little easier! To provide relief to millions of students facing challenges this year, the Department of Education is waiving verification of the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students are no longer required to verify household size or federal tax filing information. This means when you apply for your FAFSA – the one form that makes you eligible for almost every scholarship and financial aid opportunity – you and your parents will not have to submit tax documents and other forms of verification that could slow down the process.

If you have already submitted your FAFSA, please check your Central Piedmont email to see if you’ve been awarded financial aid.

Some students may still have additional documentation required.  If you have questions, please check with the Financial Aid Office or MyCollege to get the most recent status update on your FAFSA.
