You don’t have to struggle- get help for your classes

Struggle no more! Central Piedmont wants to help provide all the tools you need to be successful in your classes. The Academic Learning Center (ALC) provides so many different ways to help you study and learn the material from your classes, outside of your instructor and the class.

New tutoring and academic support options

Two students and an employee studying and working together to learn.The Academic Learning Center (ALC) has launched new tutoring options to help you be successful in your classes, with choices to get academic support throughout the day, evening, and on weekends.

You have two options to receive academic support. You can make an appointment with an ALC tutor right here on campus for either in-person or virtual support during the day.
You can also make a virtual appointment with a Brainfuse tutor, for appointments after 5 p.m. in the evenings, and on weekends.

Review the full student user guide for all the details, and learn how to:

  • Access the ALC Academic Support Platform
  • Make an appointment with an ALC Tutor using Tutor Match
  • Make an appointment with a Brainfuse tutor using Live Help

Here are a few important things to keep in mind:

  • You must login to Brightspace to access the ALC Academic Support Platform
  • You will find the ALC Academic Support link under the “Student Resources” widget in Brightspace, or directly through your live courses in Brightspace (if your instructor added it to your live course).

Free, professional tutoring available from Central Piedmont

Think you might need help to study in your class? Don’t wait, get started today with free, professional tutoring from the Academic Learning Center (ALC). The ALC is where you receive free tutoring in the subject areas of math, science, and writing. Whether you are taking one class or a full course load, tutoring is free to you.

Our tutors are professionals that focus on helping you overcome difficulties with coursework, promote independent learning, and develop skills necessary for academic success.
Tutoring includes:

  • up to three 45 minute appointments for each course in one week
  • one tutoring session for each subject, per day
  • choose from an in-person or online tutoring appointment
  • three visits per paper
  • free access to Smarthinking, for tutoring available 24/7
  • we also provide the double time tutoring accommodation to students approved through the Disability and Access Services office

How can you sign up for tutoring?
Visit the ALC website, scroll down to the “Schedule Your Tutoring Appointment Now” and complete three simple steps. You can also watch our 90 second get started video.
