- Through the assistance of the United Nations Refugee Agency and the Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency, Irenge found a new home in Charlotte.
- He arrived hoping to continue his education, which once seemed impossible while living as a refugee in Kenya.

- Irenge quickly enrolled in Central Piedmont’s free English as a Second Language (ESL) program.
- Irenge’s dedication shone through as he balanced his ESL classes on Tuesday and Thursday with his General Education Diploma (GED) prep on Monday and Wednesday.
