2020 Student Show Prospectus

2020 ANNUAL JURIED STUDENT ART SHOW

Exhibition Dates: March 23 – June 25, 2020

An opportunity for students to exhibit their paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture, ceramics, and other work in a professional gallery.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

Fall Submissions: Thursday, December 12, 2019 by 2 p.m.

Spring Submissions: Tuesday February 25, 2020 by 2 p.m.

LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Juror: Christopher Thomas

University of North Carolina Greensboro Professor of Art – Academic Professional, Director of Foundations, Printmaking & Drawing, professional artist practice in painting, printmaking, and artist books.

Important Dates:

Thursday, February 25: Deadline for ALL entries. Student Submission discs or USB flash drives due to Ross Gallery by 2 p.m.

Tuesday, February 25 Deadline for ALL entries
Monday & Tuesday, March 2 & 3 Accepted artists are notified
March 4 – 15 Students must organize framing and delivery of accepted works.
March 16 – 17 Deadline: Deliver art to Ross Gallery, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Monday, March 23 Exhibition officially opens
Tuesday, March 31 Annual Juried Student Art Show Awards, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  Tate Hall

Reception to follow 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in Ross Gallery

ELIGIBILITY: 

Any student who has been enrolled in ART courses at Central Piedmont Community College within the last year (Spring 2019, Summer and Fall 2019, Spring 2020) may enter work produced as part of their courses.

ENTRIES

All entries must be submitted by the artist.  All entries must be original works that are a product of an assignment in a Central Piedmont Community College ART class, that is: not copies or photographs of other art.  Work may be videos, paintings, drawings, mixed media, photographs, digital photographs, prints, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, or fiber art.

Note: Crafts, kit work or reproductions after original work in other media (such as giclees), unless used as part of a mixed media work, will not be considered. Work that has already been exhibited at Central Piedmont Community College will not be considered for this exhibition. All entries will be considered for the League for Innovation.

ENTRY FEE:

$5.00 for the first three entries, payable by check or cash. Each artist may enter two additional entries for an additional fee of $5.00 each, up to FIVE entries per artist. Entry fee(s) must be paid when submitting entries. Please make checks payable to Central Piedmont Community College Art Galleries.

AWARDS:  

Awards will be presented in Tate Hall at 5:30 p.m. with Opening Reception to follow in Ross Gallery. Only degree-seeking (AFA) students will be eligible for merit-based awards. All students are eligible for Purchase Awards.

SPECIFICATIONS:

2-D works on paper, including photography, should be framed, wired, and ready to hang.

Paintings must be dry, wired, and framed or gallery wrapped and wired. NOTE: Work requiring special installation must be hung with the artist’s assistance.

Acceptable artwork is limited to what can be displayed professionally in the Central Piedmont Community College Art Galleries. The Gallery Staff reserves the right to exclude any item deemed inappropriate for exhibition.

DIRECTIONS FOR SUBMISSION

Put your images on a CD, USB flash drive. All images must be .jpg files, and must include, without spaces and in upper and lower case, your name, underscore, and the entry number of the work submitted, underscore, title of art. Each image must correspond to entries listed on entry form. (Ex: JoeSmith_1_TITLEOFART.jpg) File Size: no dimension greater than 1280 pixels, or larger than 1MB.

Exhibiting artists must deliver their artwork to the Ross Gallery Monday – Tuesday, March 16 – 17, 2020  10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Exhibiting artists may pick up their work at Ross Gallery:

Thursday, June 25th                                            2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Monday, June 29th                                              10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tuesday, June 30th                                             10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

All work must be claimed by Tuesday, June 30, 2020 by 2:00 p.m. with signature of artist.

Any remaining work will become the property of Central Piedmont Community College.
