What are these posts?
They are brief, easy-to-implement tips involving the tools we use everyday with students to make our teaching lives, well, easier (and possibly even more effective).
Toolin’ Around Tip: Brightspace’s special access feature allows you to set permissions for a set of students to give them a different set of availability dates and times. This feature streamlines your quizzes/assignments so that you do not have to create a new quiz or duplicate the original to allow students special access to it.
Benefits?
- For example, you could extend the deadline for users who require extra help, or users who are submitting work beyond the original scope of the assignment. You can also add special access after an assignment’s end date has passed for users who have a legitimate excuse for missing the deadline (or just to add extra materials to the assignment).
- This feature also allows you to have specific availability and due dates for each student in the special access list, so you can adjust the dates to meet the needs of each of your special access users.
