Central Piedmont recognizes special circumstances may impact your eligibility for federal financial aid. Did you know the 2021–22 FAFSA uses income information from 2019? Many things have changed in the last two years, and we want to help qualify all eligible students for financial aid. If you or your parent(s) income has drastically changed for 2021, please complete and submit the 2021–22 financial aid reconsideration form. 

The Financial Aid office will review your information and let you know if you are eligible for additional financial aid.

  • If a student would like to request consideration of special circumstances, please submit a Reconsideration Request (Professional Judgment).

Understanding Everyday Bias Keynote

The Understanding Everyday Bias virtual keynote uncovers how hidden biases affect organizations and invites participants to reflect on their own biases. Students will learn how bias functions in the brain, shapes our perception of reality, and may negatively impact workplace decisions and culture. Participants will be inspired to take action to mitigate their bias in the future.

Civil Rights Icon, and Former Mayor Visits Central Piedmont

Harvey GanttThe Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Council at Central Piedmont brought civil rights icon and former Charlotte Mayor Harvey Gantt to Central Piedmont’s Halton Theater stage on Oct. 14, to serve as a panelist during its EDI event titled, “A Story of Perseverance in Driving Change.”

Mr. Gantt was joined on stage by moderator Dr. Charles Mitchell, equity and opportunity presidential fellow at Central Piedmont, as well as panelists Dr. Tracie Clark, vice president for strategy and organizational excellence, and Dr. Chris Cathcart, vice president for student affairs, at Central Piedmont.

During the event, Central Piedmont employees and students had the opportunity to hear the group discuss the power of collaboration and allyship in creating change and moving the EDI needle in a positive direction, and how Central Piedmont can continue pushing forward in supporting its students and the Charlotte community.

Managing Your Mental Health: Anxiety Management

Participate in an interactive presentation discussing mental health management strategies.

Glenda Nnaji, a curriculum counselor in health professions, is a licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor (LCMHCS), and a licensed clinical addiction specialist (LCAS). She will share her expertise and answer questions from participants. Glenda works with adult students who are having challenges with managing their Mental Health while in stressful competitive health programs. Learn about mental health symptoms, behaviors, and mental health management.

Breaking the Silence: Real Talk on Domestic Violence

two female students staring toward stageIn observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Central Piedmont invites you to attend “Breaking the Silence: Real Talk on Domestic Violence,” a virtual panel discussion on the signs and dynamics of power and control in relationships. This program is being presented in partnership with Central Piedmont Library, Office of Institutional Equity, Student Engagement, Mecklenburg County Community Support Services (CSS), and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) on October 18 from 9:30 a.m – 10:45 a.m.

Also, throughout October and early November, a special traveling exhibit featuring “Survivor Stories” will be on display for one week at each campus. Please make sure to view the Survivor Stories Exhibit that will rotate to each campus for one week. 

Theresa Thompson Library Scholarship Available for Students 

student sitting alone reading a book on Levine CampusCould you use $500 for college? The Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Theresa Thompson Library Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for currently enrolled students pursuing a two-year degree at Central Piedmont . The scholarship is restricted to books and/or tuition assistance. This scholarship award is made possible through library fundraising projects.

  • Two $500 scholarships will be awarded in the fall and spring semester.
  • Completed applications and supporting documents must be received by November 12, 2021.
  • Incomplete and late packets will NOT be considered.

Eligibility Requirements

  • not have previously received a Theresa Thompson Library Scholarship
  • not a library employee, including work-study student
  • full-time student (currently enrolled in 12 credit hours or more) in an approved program leading to a two-year degree
  • completed at least one full-time semester at Central Piedmont
  • cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher

This event will serve as a learning opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about housing insecurity and homelessness in our community. This year’s virtual event will feature sessions on collaboration, mental health, COVID’s impact, and more.

 Harvey Gantt: A Story of Perseverance in Driving Change

In addition to being Charlotte’s first African-American mayor, Mr. Gantt was also the first African-American student at Clemson University. Join us as he reflects on his own journey, discusses the power of collaboration and allyship in creating change, and gives advice on how Central Piedmont can continue pushing forward in supporting our students and the Charlotte community.

Location:  Halton Theater in the Overcash Performing Arts Center on Central Campus.

Summer in France? Study Abroad with Global Learning

The Global Learning Office is excited to announce a partnership with Davidson-Davie Community College for a study abroad opportunity to Bordeaux, France in Summer of 2022. Through this program, students will design a solar-powered cell phone charger with students from the University of Bordeaux and will include virtual exchange meetings with French students before travel. There will also be a variety of cultural excursions and homestays with French families on the weekend.

Central Piedmont has spots for 2 students who will receive a $1500 scholarship toward the total program cost of $3500.  Our college will also have a faculty leader on the program. Students must apply and take the course associated with the program through Application are due by November 15. How To Determine When You Report for In- Person Classes?

Hybrid and blended courses combine face-to-face and online course delivery into one class experience. Hybrid courses are taught mostly online while blended courses are mostly taught in-person with some online instruction.

To determine if your classes are online, a mixture of online and in-person, or completely in-person, follow these steps:

  1. Log into MyCollege.
  2. Select ‘Student Planning.’
  3. Select ‘Go to Plan and Schedule.’
  4. Make sure the current term appears at the top of this page, for example) ‘Fall 2021.’
  5. Click on the ‘Print’ button.

This page will give you the clearest view of how your class will be delivered. You can print, print to PDF, or screen capture the schedule from a phone. Please note:

  • In the ‘Location’ column, if you only see ONLINE for that section, there will be no on-campus instruction.
  • If you see only campus buildings and rooms, that class will only meet in-person at the location(s) listed.
  • If you see both ONLINE and a campus building and room, that class will have a mixture of in-person and online instruction.

Also, please note that even with in-person classes you will have limited in-person meeting times. To find out:

  1. Log into MyCollege.
