The Central Piedmont community can get FREE tickets for a speaker event with Pixar executive Danielle Feinberg. Register by March 25 for the free tickets.
Saturday, April 1
10 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
Central Campus
Parr Center, New Theater
Danielle Feinberg is Visual Effects Supervisor at Pixar Animation Studios & Mentor for Girls in STEM. Feinberg’s love of combining computers and art began when she was eight years old, and first programmed a Logo turtle to create images. This eventually led her to a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Harvard University. Now, in addition to her Pixar work, she works with teenage girls, encouraging them to pursue math and science by demonstrating to them the same beautiful simplicity she found with the programmed art of the Logo turtle.
The event is hosted by the BFB Foundation and Central Piedmont Community College. This event is important to BFB Foundation’s mission of strengthening communities by supporting education-focused initiatives for girls and women. It provides a platform to positively affect economic mobility in the Charlotte Metro Area, especially concerning the underserved. Tickets are being provided for free so educators and women in STEM have the opportunity to attend.

STEM Scholars Academy Event & Check Presentation, September 6, 2022
Honeywell, a global leader in aerospace, building technologies, performance materials, and technologies, has made a $1-million gift commitment to Central Piedmont Community College to establish the Honeywell STEM Scholars Academy at the college. The gift was announced on Sept. 6 and will come to Central Piedmont in annual installments of $200,000 over the next five years.
The Honeywell STEM Scholars Academy will boost diversity among students enrolled in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) programs at the college who are pursuing a certification, degree, and careers in a high-demand STEM-related field. The college plans to involve 100 students in the academy, beginning in fall 2022, and seeks to engage 125 additional students each year, over the next four years.
As a Honeywell STEM Scholars Academy student, participants will have the opportunity to focus on one of three STEM academic pathways at Central Piedmont – engineering, health sciences, or information technology – and have access to a variety of Central Piedmont’s student support services, including tutoring, coaching, peer mentoring, career counseling, and more.
In addition to having the opportunity to take advantage of Central Piedmont’s many academic resources, academy students will receive STEM education and training opportunities through the Carolina Youth Coalition, a non-profit organization that prepares high-achieving, under-resourced students to enter, excel in, and graduate from college so they can become full participants in society. Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) technology is a collection of industrial inspection methods in high demand in the manufacturing and maintenance industries. NDE technology is used in power generation (nuclear and fossil), transportation (aviation, ship building, railroads, bridges), petrochemical, manufacturing, construction, and many other industries.
Central Piedmont is the only college in North Carolina to offer an associate degree in NDE. We teach the six core NDE methods: Ultrasonic, Radiography, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and Visual Testing.
Attend an information session to learn more about the NDE degree.
All sessions will be held at Harper Campus, in Harper Building I, Room 362:
The industry has grown 12% over the last two years and is expected to grow by 26% over the next ten years. A career in NDE pays well and suits people who like to work with their heads and hands. Career paths in NDE can range from technician, engineering, supervision, management, sales, or independent contractor.
Navigating your way through college can be challenging. That’s why we’ve created a Central Piedmont success team just for YOU and we’re using the latest technology to stay connected with you every step of the way.

Create Opportunity, a workforce development initiative serving the Carolinas, is partnering with Central Piedmont Community College to launch a workforce development program designed to identify, train, and place new software engineers with local employers.
The program will launch mid-September 2022, and students can take the screening now. As a program partner, Central Piedmont will guide participants through the six-month training program that prepares them for the two-year apprenticeship.
Participants complete the screening process, and they are enrolled in a free, full-time, six-month training program at Central Piedmont, followed by a two-year, paid software development apprenticeship (with full benefits) with a local employer. The internship will prepare them well for full-time employment as a software engineer.
Create Opportunity strives to provide individuals of all backgrounds with the opportunity to become professional software engineers, while supporting the needs of Charlotte-Mecklenburg employers and the growth of the region. Participants enter the Create Opportunity program through an aptitude-based screening exam that identifies how they can succeed at becoming a software engineer.
“Central Piedmont is excited to partner with Create Opportunity to provide another pathway to a family-sustaining career and greater economic mobility,” said Dr. Kandi Deitemeyer, Central Piedmont president. “This program will help meet the needs of local employers while giving individuals a great opportunity to build a stable career with good growth potential.”
“We’re excited to launch our program in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg market and support its residents through our workforce development initiatives,” said Ben Rex, founder, Create Opportunity. “Our mission aligns with the county’s economic development objectives by fueling the growth of existing employers and the recruitment of new employers to the region with a capable technology workforce.”
Everyone knows the importance of a password. Now it’s even easier – and faster – to change your password through Central Piedmont’s Network Account Management Portal. Information Technology Services has launched a self-service tool for students to reset passwords, process forgotten passwords, expired passwords, or locked accounts online.
Visit https://amp.cpcc.edu, where you can now receive forgotten or locked password prompts via email. This is a self-service functionality that will allow you to make changes without having to contact the Help Desk, use an on-campus computer, or Central Piedmont Cloud to manage your account passwords. We encourage you to add alternate email addresses in case you experience issues with your password and cannot access your Central Piedmont email.
Visit the Network Account Management Portal today! If you have any questions contact the Information Technology Services Help Desk at 704.330.5000 or at helpdesk@cpcc.edu.
Beginning on May 25, 2021, Information Technology Services will implement an incorrect password lockout policy for students who use services that require a login. Three incorrect password attempts will result in an account being locked for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes the account will unlock. If a student needs immediate access, they will need to contact the Information Technology Services Help Desk to have their account unlocked.
If you have any questions, please contact the Information Technology Services Help Desk at helpdesk@cpcc.edu.
