College operating status update

Four students on Central Campus, smiling with the skyline behind themCentral Piedmont has created several categories to define the college’s operating status due to incidents such as inclement weather, building/facility issues, technology disruptions, or other emergencies. The college will provide clear communication regarding the status of operations utilizing these guidelines.

a.      Normal Operations: campuses and offices are open; classes are in session via normal modes.

b.     Reduced Operations – Level 1: campuses and offices are open; classes may be in person or remote depending on the circumstances. This level of operating status may be campus or building specific, which will accompany any college announcements.

c.      Reduced Operations – Level 2: campuses and offices are closed; classes do not meet in person; classes and college operations continue remotely.

d.     Full Closure: campuses and offices are closed; classes are canceled. College operations cease.

The college communicates operating status updates through email, social media, local media, the college website, and the pre-recorded emergency information line at 704-330-6888.

Critical Alert text messages are reserved for situations posing an immediate threat to life safety or for communicating critical information on short notice or when time is of the essence. Registration for cellphone messaging is available through MyCollege by selecting User Options and editing the telephone numbers in the User Profile.

Students are also encouraged to download the free safety app Rave Guardian from their preferred App Store. Rave Guardian allows users to report suspicious activity and safety concerns discretely and anonymously to College Security.
