The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) is teaming up with Central Piedmont English Instructor Jaime Pollard-Smith and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library to bring you Art Heist—an exciting event that dives into the intersection of art, history, and cultural identity!
🎨 What is Art Heist?
This interactive event is part of the Community Read 2025 initiative, which explores the theme “Art Is…” through engaging discussions and activities. This year’s featured book, Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li, tells the thrilling story of a group of Chinese American college students who attempt to reclaim stolen Chinese artifacts from Western museums. Their journey raises important questions about cultural restitution, identity, and belonging—all inspired by real-life museum heists!
