Eleven Central Piedmont students: international students, dual enrollment students, mom with two jobs, first fire protection students, and NC scholar of global distinction students, joined thousands of university students, more than half from outside United States, in the National Model United Nations New York 2021 Conference. The MUN club represented the delegation of The Republic of El Salvador discussing current global issues in a real world context. Despite Covid-19 and the cyber attack, our students worked hard and proudly represented Central Piedmont receiving the ‘Distinguished Delegation’ award as a result of a great committee participation, remaining in character, and proper use of rules of procedure. We also want to recognize Aakriti Lakshmanan who received the “Outstanding Position Paper in Committee” award, as well as “Outstanding Delegate in Committee” award.
