CPCC Painting Students Collaborate with Center City Partners

CPCC Drawing and Painting Faculty member Carolyn Jacobs is leading a collaborative Service Learning project with Center City Partners this semester. If you’ve made your way through the Art Wing of the Overcash Building on Central Campus, chances are you’ve been greeted by a dozen six foot tall Nutcrackers!  Jacobs’ Painting I class submitted around thirty designs to Center City Partners and eleven were selected to be painted. Students will earn Service Learning credit as well as a project grade. These eleven, which will be auctioned for charity, will go on display Friday, Dec. 6th at 7th Street Market, 5-9PM.  However, feel free to come by the Art Wing and see them in progress!!

In case you’re wondering about that 12th Nutcracker, we’re painting it for the Arts and Science Council—a very traditional looking Nutcracker—look for it on their Thanksgiving Day Parade float!!
