CPCC Theatre Auditions for Joe Turner Rescheduled for Thursday Feb 19th and 20th

CPCC Theatre auditions for August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone have been rescheduled for Thursday Feb 19th and Friday February 20th at 7:00pm in the Overcash/Halton Rehearsal Hall OC 300.

We are seeking 6 men and 5 women for characters aged 20 -60+. 

Set in a black boardinghouse in Pittsburgh in 1911, this drama by the author of The Piano Lesson, Seven Guitars and Fences is an installment in the author’s series chronicling black life in each decade of this century. Each denizen of the boardinghouse has a different relationship to a past of slavery as well as to the urban present. They include the proprietors, an eccentric clairvoyant with a penchant for old country voodoo, a young homeboy up from the South and a mysterious stranger who is searching for his wife.

No preparation necessary.  Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. You do not have to be a current CPCC student to participate. College credit is available to those who qualify. Rehearsals begin February 23rd. Rehearsals Monday – Thursday 7 – 10pm. Performances April 10 -19, 2015.

We are also looking for people interested in working backstage, set crew, props, etc.

Joe Turner Auditions Cancelled for Monday Evening Feb. 16th

Due to inclement weather auditions for August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone  at CPCC Theatre have been cancelled for Monday evening Feb 16th at 7pm. Keep an eye on the weather alerts on radio and TV. If the college is closed on Tuesday as anticipated, there will be no auditions on Tuesday night Feb 17th either. Once the new dates have been set we will post them in an email and on the blogs.cpcc.edu/theatre website.
