The Associate in Applied Science degree in mechanical engineering technology program at Central Piedmont, is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET (abet.org). This degree is accepted at some colleges and universities as the first two years of a 2 + 2 bachelor’s-level engineering technology program.
The Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum prepares you for employment as a mechanical engineering technician. Emphasis is placed on the integration of theory and mechanical principles into real applications in product and design and manufacturing.
Coursework includes applied math, physics, applied mechanics, manufacturing methods and processes, computer usage, computer aided design, and communication skills. Courses stress critical thinking, planning, and problem solving.
Graduates will find many employment opportunities in the many branches of mechanical engineering technology, such as NASCAR, manufacturing, product design, sales, and service.
