Instructions to manually add the Official Navigational Template to your new (blank) shell:

  1. Login to Blackboard and click on your new semester shell.
  2. Make sure that Editing is ON (Upper right hand corner of the browser.)
  3. Click on the (+) sign (Top left of the Blackboard course,under the CPCC banner.) 
  4. You will now add each menu item manually:

    1. From +  context menu, choose Tool Link; type Announcements. Click on the down arrow and choose Announcements check the box Available to users, and click Submit.
      The Announcement menu item has been added. You will repeat the same process for each menu item but will choose a different type of item.
    2. From +  context menu,choose Content Area, type Syllabus & Course info, check the box Available to users, and click Submit.
    3. From +  context menu, choose Tool link, click on the down arrow and choose the type of tool Contacts, then type Instructor, check the box Available to users, and click Submit.
    4. From +  context menu, choose Content Area, type Coursework, check the box Available to users, and click Submit.
    5. From +  context menu, choose Tool link, click on the down arrow and choose the type of tool Discussion Board, then type Discussions, check the box Available to users, and click Submit.
      * Note: The Discussions navigational menu name may be changed if you are using a collaboration tool other than–or in addition–to the Discussion Board. 

      1. For example, if you are only using the Blogs tool, then the appropriate menu item name is Blogs and it should be created as a Tool link to Blogs
      2. If you are using multiple tools, such as Discussions and Journals, then the appropriate navigational menu name is Collaboration and it should be created as a Content Area

    6. From +  context menu, choose Content Area, type Resources, check the box Available to users, and click Submit.
    7. From +  context menu, choose Tool link, click on the down arrow and choose the type of tool My Grades, then type Grades, check the box Available to users, and click Submit.
    8. You will now add three ‘Divider” items. From +  context menu, Choose Divider. Repeat 3 times, then , click and drag them to the appropriate locations (place dividers under Announcements, under Instructor and under Resources)
