Did you know that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US?
Thoughts of self-harm are not as uncommon as many people think. If you suspect someone is feeling suicidal, don’t be afraid to ask them. Then, listen with patience and kindness, steering clear of criticism or easy answers. Let them know you care and want to connect them with someone who can help. And, if you personally are having suicidal thoughts, please reach out to someone.
At Central Piedmont, counselors are available at every campus, and their services are free and confidential. Learn more at cpcc.edu/counseling. Also, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is open 24/7 at 1.800.273.TALK (8255) or by texting TALK to 741741.
