Capital Bank Foundation is celebrating 25 years of giving through a video contest. We just need you to visit 25yearsofgiving.com, create a free login with a valid email address, and give a “thumbs up” on CPCC’s 1-minute video entry, which features Opportunity Scholar Joshua Williams. Remember to come back and vote for our video once a day from now until voting ends on Aug. 31!
Your votes decide which videos will be selected as a finalist. Then, judges will select 25 winners to each receive a grant of up to $25,000.
The 20th Anniversary CPCC Charlotte Skyline Run will be held on April 25, 2015. An estimated 1,000 plus runners are expected to attend this family fun event which will support student scholarships and other student needs. The Skyline Run will feature four components which include a 5K run, Walk for Health, Family Fun Run (1 mile), and Charlotte 5K Baby Jogger Championship. Kids will enjoy the Family Fun Run and spending time in the Kids Zone.
The Speedway Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway has generously donated two gift certificates to the CPCC Model United Nations Club to help students raise funds to attend the National Model United Nations Conference in New York in March 2013.
The MUN club will accept bids for the gift certificates between Thursday, Oct. 18 and Wednesday, Nov. 21. Please email Teresa Hall (MUN Club Faculty Advisor) at Teresa.Hall@cpcc.edu to bid on one or both of the certificates. Please clearly indicate which certificate you are bidding on. The highest bidder for each certificate will be contacted during the last week of November and will receive the gift certificate and a receipt from the CPCC Foundation for the contribution to the MUN club. These would make great holiday gifts for racing fans!!
Gift Certificate #1: This Speedway Club gift certificate is for dinner for two to the May 19, 2013, NASCAR Sprint ALL-STAR race and is valued at $110.
Gift Certificate #2: This gift certificate is for two race tickets to the May 18, 2013, NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race (Indoor Clubhouse Seating) and dinner for two at the Speedway Club and is valued at $450.
The day’s events will include the Kaye McGarry 5K run, the 5K Walk for Health, a Charlotte Baby Jogger 5K Championship and the child-friendly 1K Charlotte Parent Family Fun Run.
For the first time there will be a kids zone, health & fitness zone, and food zone located in front of the Overcash building. Another first for this event will be the cash prizes for the overall first, second and third place finishers in the 5k run, as well as other prizes to runners. Vendors will be in attendance to discuss and promote everything from weight management to the hottest trends in running gear.
“It’s a fundraiser for student scholarships and other student needs,” said Development Officer for the Institutional Advancement Office, Dick Pahle.
Last year the CPCC Foundation provided more than $1 million in scholarships to 1,249 students. “We’re looking forward to giving away more money to deserving students again this year,” said Executive Director of Services Corporation, Quincy Foil. “This event is an important contributor to the amount of money raised.”
There will also be a shoe collection for Samaritan’s feet. People can bring their gently used shoes to the event and receive a $5 coupon toward a pair of shoes redeemable at Run For Your Life.
