15K/5K Races to Temporarily Close Streets near Central Campus this Saturday

Allstate’s Hot Chocolate 15k/5k is taking place on Saturday, Feb. 10, near CPCC’s Central Allstate 5k course mapCampus. As a result, the event will temporarily close a couple of nearby roads, including 5th and 7th streets. However, all impacted roads are expected to be open by noon.

If you have a Saturday morning class to attend, please plan accordingly and leave early to allow for any traffic delays during this time. For a course map, see the image at right. To make it larger, double-click on it.

Central Campus Parking, Do Not Park on Side Streets

Central Campus students: please continue to arrive early to class. Traffic remains heavy on and around the campus as there are construction and maintenance projects taking place that are causing issues. We strongly encourage you to carpool or use public transportation.

If you drive to campus, please make sure you’re parking in designated student parking areas. These include Student Decks 1 and 2, Lot 6 and the Employee/Theatre Parking Deck, which remains open to students while Student Deck 3 is closed for maintenance.

Please note: You CANNOT park along side streets, such as Armory Drive and other thoroughfares on or near campus. By parking in an unmarked space and along nearby streets, you run the risk of your vehicle being towed.

Therefore, please park in assigned parking areas on campus. Not sure where they are? Refer to the Central Campus map for parking locations.

Thank you!

Watch for Construction Traffic, Congestion Around Central Campus

During the weeks of Oct. 2 and Oct. 9, large precast concrete components will be delivered to the North Central Energy Plant construction site.

During the week of Oct. 2, this will involve large trucks entering Central Campus off N. Kings Drive behind Central High, unloading the components at the construction site behind the Giles Building, and then exiting campus driving in front of the Grady Cole Center and past Parking Lot #6 onto 7th Street. These deliveries will take place between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for Wed., Oct. 4, when the deliveries will stop at 3:30 p.m.

During the week of Oct. 9, the large delivery trucks will cause less congestion on campus as they enter the construction site from Charlottetowne Ave., turning onto Sam Ryburn Walk, which is currently closed to pedestrians and all but construction vehicles. These deliveries will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Please be alert while traversing Central Campus the next couple of weeks and give the delivery vehicles a wide berth.
