Moments from our lives pass in a blur and tend to be forgotten. We are constantly moving, talking, watching, sending, and working – so much so that losing sight of ourselves is a shared reality. What happens, however when we slow down? When we sit? When those moments are stilled and remembered in a photograph?

Early in the semester, Atlanta-based photographer Melissa Alexander used her camera to capture the students that embody Central Piedmont’s campus life through portraiture. These portraits have transformed Ross Gallery into the exhibition titled Blur: A Community Portrait Project that reclaims not only our time, but ourselves.
