Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management department is excited to host America’s PrepareAthon! April 24-29 throughout the Charlotte metro area.
America’s PrepareAthon! is a FEMA-sponsored, grassroots campaign designed to raise awareness about emergency preparedness. Throughout the week, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management will host a variety of events to educate residents and businesses on how to take appropriate action during an emergency, such as a flood, violent protest and more.
CPCC, a partner of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management, will host the following America’s PrepareAthon! event on its Central Campus. It is free and open to CPCC faculty, staff and students.

Learn Your Flood Risk
Sky Warn Storm Spotter Course – 10 a.m. – noon
Storm Water Services presentation on Flood Hazards and Mitigation (1- 1:45 p.m.)

Standard homeowners’ insurance doesn’t cover flooding. Whether you’re a homeowner or renter, you’ll need a separate policy for it, and it’s available through your company agent or the National Flood Insurance Program at floodsmart.gov. To help you better understand your flood risk, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management is hosting this free flood workshop at on CPCC’s Central Campus.
