CPCC, together with lead sponsor Northwestern Mutual, will present the 17th annual CPCC Charlotte Skyline Run on April 28.
The day’s events will include the Kaye McGarry 5K run, the 5K Walk for Health, a Charlotte Baby Jogger 5K Championship and the child-friendly 1K Charlotte Parent Family Fun Run.
For the first time there will be a kids zone, health & fitness zone, and food zone located in front of the Overcash building. Another first for this event will be the cash prizes for the overall first, second and third place finishers in the 5k run, as well as other prizes to runners. Vendors will be in attendance to discuss and promote everything from weight management to the hottest trends in running gear.
“It’s a fundraiser for student scholarships and other student needs,” said Development Officer for the Institutional Advancement Office, Dick Pahle.
Last year the CPCC Foundation provided more than $1 million in scholarships to 1,249 students. “We’re looking forward to giving away more money to deserving students again this year,” said Executive Director of Services Corporation, Quincy Foil. “This event is an important contributor to the amount of money raised.”
The Skyline Run is one of nine races featured in the Run for Your Life “Grand Prix” series.
