Critical Alert! Emergency Notification System

CPCC students,

Are classes cancelled because of severe weather?  Is my campus closed because of a safety emergency? Stay informed in the event of a campus emergency by signing up for Critical Alert.  You’ll receive text message alerts and direct phone calls to get important information to you quickly.

You can also check 704.330.6888 (recorded information line), the College’s homepage ( and local media outlets for CPCC emergency updates.

This system will only be used in the event of a true emergency such as an intruder, natural disaster or campus emergency. The system will NOT be used for routine communication. To ensure that the system is working properly, you may receive a test message each semester.

Sign-up for Critical Alert is free; however, be aware of your individual cell phone plan and the costs involved for text messaging and calls. Registration is good for one year and you will be notified when you need to re-register.

Again, CPCC will only use this text messaging/phone notification in emergency situations. Sign up now!

  1. Where do I enter my cell phone number to get immediate notices?

    • How to sign up

      • Log in to CPCC Login
      • Under Options, select Critical Alert Notification
      • Enter the mobile number where you would like to receive text notifications
      • Enter up to two phone numbers to receive direct phone calls from CPCC

*To receive text messages, text must be enabled on your phone. Check with your provider regarding your plan and device. Notifications are dependent upon your wireless carrier. CPCC cannot guarantee notifications will be received by the intended recipient.

      • Adam,

Would you mind revising these directions or clarifying them for me. When I went to I couldn’t find “options”. Has it been moved? Or am is it just going completely over my head?

Also, is there a way to know if I have already registered for this service? I am not sure if I already signed up or not.

        Thanks for your help.
