United Way and Library Scholarship Book Sale

The CPCC Libraries are now accepting new and gently used books, CDs, audio books and videos (DVDs) for the upcoming annual United Way & Library Scholarship Book Sale. Donations may be dropped off at any campus location during the hours the library is open now through Tuesday, Oct. 18. All items should be in good condition.
The book sale will be held on the Central Campus, Hagemeyer LRC, October 19 and 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to United Way and the library scholarship fund. For more information, please contact Lynette Kendrick at ext. 6114 or lynette.kendrick@cpcc.edu.
This year, the Merancas, Cato, Levine, Harper and Harris Campuses will also be hosting book sales. Please contact your campus library for more details.

Apply for the Library Scholarship!

The Library Scholarship application deadline is approaching fast! The CPCC Library offers two $500 scholarships each semester to help support students as they pursue their educational goals at CPCC.  The deadline for submitting an application for the Spring semester scholarships is Oct. 31st. To be eligible for the CPCC Library Scholarship, applicants must:

  • be a full-time student, currently enrolled in 12 credit hours or more in an approved degree program leading to a two-year degree.
  • have a cumulative CPCC GPA of 2.5 or higher. A copy of current transcript must be submitted with application.
  • submit a completed application with supporting documents.
  • write an original 500 word essay on how the CPCC libraries have helped you achieve your educational goals thus far.
  • submit a letter of recommendation from a current CPCC instructor.

CPCC Library Scholarship Winners

Please extend your congratulations to the five Library Scholarship winners for Spring 2011.  They were each awarded $200 for their academic excellence, their contributions to the community and their winning essay.  The Central campus library has a display of their photographs together with their essays so that you can get to know them.  They are:

Jennifer Barrett – graduating Summer 2011 and plans to continue for a Masters degree at UNCC

 

 

 

 

K. Lee Stevenson – graduating Fall 2011 from our paralegal program

 

 

 

 

Kendra Hart – graduating Fall 2011 and planning to get a 4-yr degree in child psychology

 

 

 

Lisa Cook – graduating May 2011 and plans to become an elementary school teacher

 

 

 

 

Triet Pham – graduating May 2012 and planning to get a 4-yr degree in finance and accounting
