Fine Forgiveness Days

Have library fines? Bring donations of non-perishable, non-expired food items to any CPCC Library location to have your fines waived! Donations will also be accepted even if you don’t have fines!

Guidelines for waived fines is listed below:

3 items for fines between $1-5
4 items for fines between $6-10
6 items for fines $10 and above

A maximum of $20 in fines will be waived.

Fine Forgiveness Days are for late fines only. Replacement fees for lost or damaged items are excluded.

All items will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. This event is in partnership with CPCC Service Learning’s Food Lion Feed Challenge. Fine Forgiveness Days

From November 13 to December 12, 2017, the CPCC Library will be hosting Fine Forgiveness Days. During this period, fines accrued from overdue items will be forgiven at all campus libraries in exchange for a donation to CPCC’s Single Stop program.

How does fine forgiveness work?
• For every multi-pack of requested items from the list below $3.00 in fines will be waived. Single items will not be accepted. For instance, an individual serving of Lance crackers will not be accepted, however a multi-pack of crackers will be.
• A maximum of $20 in fines will be waived from any account.
• Only fines are waived – replacement fees for lost books are not eligible.
• No credits for future fines will be issued. Fine Forgiveness Days is for existing fines only.

The following multi-pack items are requested for donation for Fine Forgiveness Days:
• Microwave Popcorn
• Hot Cocoa
• Apple Juice
• Water
• Trail Mix or Nuts
• Granola Bars, Fruit Bars, Breakfast Bars
• Oatmeal
• Lance Crackers
• Tissues

Donations will be accepted even if you don’t have fines!

The following items are requested for donation for Fine Forgiveness Days:

  • Hot Cocoa (box of 8 or 12)
  • Apple Juice (box of 8 or 12)
  • Water (6 or 24 pack)
  • Trail Mix or Nuts (Box or individual bags)
  • Granola Bars, Fruit Bars, Breakfast Bars (box of 6)
  • Oatmeal (Instant, box of 12), Lance Crackers (8 pack)
  • Tissues (pocket pack 8 individually wrapped)

Donations will be accepted even if you don’t have fines!

Got Fines?

From November 16 to December 11, 2015, the CPCC Libraries will be conducting a food drive called Food for Fines. During this period, fines accrued from overdue items will be forgiven at all campus libraries in exchange for the donation of non-perishable food items.

How does Food for Fines work?

  • For every one non-perishable food item, one dollar in fines will be waived from your account. So, 4 cans of soup will equal $4.00 in fines waived.
  • A maximum of $20 in fines will be waived from any account.
  • Only fines are waived – replacement fees for lost books are not eligible for Food for Fines.
  • No credits for future fines will be issued. Food for Fines is for existing fines only.

Which food items are acceptable?

Only non-perishable food items will be accepted. Non-perishable means that the items will not be in danger of immediately spoiling. Items must not be expired.

The following food items are most desired for Food for Fines:

  • Canned meats and fish, including tuna, chicken and beef stew
  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Peanut butter
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Soup

All donations go to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Donations will be accepted even if you don’t have fines!

Fine Forgiveness Days at the Library

CPCC Libraries & SEANC presents Fine Forgiveness Days
Nov. 17 – Dec. 12, 2014
Bring in personal care products and/or non-perishable food items to get your fines waived. All items collected will be donated to the Battered Women Shelter.
How does it work?
3 items for fines between $1-$5
4 items for fines between $6-$10
6 items for fines $10 and above.
This excludes replacement fees for lost and damaged materials. All materials must be returned in good condition. Donations from those without fines are also welcomed.
Priority needs include: automatic dishwasher soap, cereal, crackers, dishes/bowls, toothpaste/brushes, coffee/coffee creamer, peanut butter/jelly, body lotion/bar soap, shower gel/body wash, juice boxes, pacifiers/towels, deodorant, canned pasta, tipper and gladware, and shampoo/conditioner.

Got Library Fines?

Fine Forgiveness Days will run from Nov. 19 – Dec 11, 2012.  Bring in personal care products and/or non-perishable food items to get your fines waived!  This excludes replacement fees for lost and damaged materials. All materials must be returned in good condition. Donations from those without fines are also welcome.
All items collected will be donated to the Harvest Center, see http://www.theharvestcenter.org/. Priority needs include (for men and women): body lotion, bar soap, deodorant,  combs, brushes, shampoo/conditioner, shower gel/body wash, toothpaste/brushes,  and any non-expired, non-perishable food items.

Got Library Fines? Get Forgiven!

Starting Monday, November 14th through the end of November, the CPCC Libraries will be offering fine free forgiveness days. During this period, fines accrued from overdue items will be forgiven at all campus libraries.

How does this deal work?

  1. Return overdue library materials to any CPCC library along with donations of personal care products (see list below), and your fine will be waived.
  2. This can also apply for each previously returned overdue item in order to have your unpaid fines waived.
  3. All materials must be returned in good condition. This deal excludes replacement fees for lost and damaged materials.

Donations from students, faculty and staff without current fines or overdue materials are also welcomed.  All items collected will be donated to the Shelter for Battered Women charitable organization.  Donations accepted are:

Automatic dishwasher soap

Body lotion

Bar soap

Liquid laundry/dish detergent

Q-Tips

Quart/gallon zip-lock bags

Shampoo/Conditioner

Shower gel/body wash

Tooth pastes/brushes

Wipes
