The 8th Annual “Digital Film People” event – Digital Film People 2014 is a celebration of cinematic proportions. A variety of films and works will be shown; produced by CPCC students, local directors, and aspiring film makers, works spanning from every genre will be viewed and honored! We’re also happy to announce that entrepreneur and guest speaker Jeff Hoffman will be available for an open question answer forum right after his speech.
Jeff is the founder of and has produced movies in Hollywood, has produced musical events including concerts, tours, and charity events with such artists as Elton John, Britney Spears, NSYNC, and others, and serves on numerous charity and non-profit boards.

Bert Hesse
CEO/Chairman, studio Charlotte Development / Producer/ Film Financier / Marketer of Film Properties

Bert Hesse has 25 years of experience in the film industry and is a producer of the Los Angeles and Charlotte based film company, central avenue pictures. he has been the executive producer of several films, including “footsteps of Elie Wiesel”,”Cold Storage” and “Night Feeders”

Additionally, Bert has over 25 years of experience running companies with multi-million dollar budgets, where he has managed many financial and legal issues concerning various projects. he has negotiated sales and distribution contracts (both domestically & internationally ) for many of his films and is now at the forefront of the initiative to turn Eastland mall into a film studio.

Tod Thorne

Co-Chairman of the North Carolina Film Council. Tod is the owner and President of Tod Thorne & Associates, a commercial Real Estate and Land Investment company. He has served for 20 years on the NC Film Council. The past 10 years as Co-Chairman. Among his many honors he has been recognized by five North Carolina Governors for his service to the State. He was twice awarded the order of the Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina’s highest Civilian Honor. He was presented the Old North State Award for his involvement in Film Promotion and Development in our State. He currently serves on CPCC’s President’ Advisory Board as well as CPCC’s Digital Film Advisory Board.  Tod also chairs the committee for the CPCC Sporting Clays Classic to raise funds for the benefit of the Veteran and First Responders Educational needs.

Amy Burkett

With twenty-four years in broadcasting, four national PBS awards, 31 Emmy nominations, six Emmys, six Pennsylvania Association of Broadcaster’s Awards and one regional Edward R. Murrow Award; Amy loves the business of connecting through media. Television is her ultimate team sport.

“Where passion runs high and extraordinary things happen.” Over the last fourteen years, Amy studied the art of leadership and in 2012 received her John Maxwell certification as a trainer, speaker and coach.

George is a former DGA commercial Film Director from NYC. He has won just about every award the industry bestows on its own, a four-time Clio finalist, ADDY Awards, Art Director’s Awards from NYC, Chicago, LA. and many more. He is the founder of the Digital Film Program here at CPCC.

A Majority of his students have found their way into many of the most highly regarded Film Schools in the country, as well as employment on many of the Documentary, Feature and commercial productions here in Charlotte.

Dennis Darrell Achievement Award
To mark the works and perspectives of the film maker, an achievement award to his name is handed out every year by his dear wife, Nikita Darrell to encourage extraordinary achievement of a student and budding film maker.

Nikita is a true friend of the Digital Film Program here at CPCC .
