Constitution Changes Vote(3:00-3:15)

To ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding the proposed constitutional updates, please note the following:

I think most senators associate the Credentials Committee with faculty titles, and we all appreciate the great work Mona and her committee have done. However, this charge is not actually mentioned in the Constitution. Per the Senate Constitution, the Credentials Committee is charged with overseeing senate membership.  So, we are trying to align what we’re doing with the constitution and vice versa. Currently, the charge encompases only faculty membership; the proposed change would include both faculty and professional staff membership—-full senate membership.

After our last Senate meeting, Denise and I met with the current Credentials Committee and came up with a plan:

This is a great time to take a look at formalizing some guidelines for elections of both faculty and professional staff, with this in mind, I am appointing a faculty senator, Emily Nelson, and a professional staff senator, Kelly Wilson, to co-chair the Credentials Committee and make recommendations on elections and membership.

Mona Yektaparast and Steppen Murphy will chair an ad hoc committee on Faculty Titles.  I think we should discuss at a later date if this committee should continue as an ad hoc committee, be folded into the Faculty Welfare Committee or become and stand alone committee in the future. However, this does not affect our current constitutional update.

Please review all proposed changes here.
