Lives change @ the CPCC Libraries!
We love what we do and want to celebrate with you during National Library Week, April 13 -19, and National Library Workers Day is April 15. Stop in one of the libraries this week and take a selfie (alone or with a staff member) sharing what YOUR library means to you. Don’t like taking photos? Then you can tweet your story using the hashtag #LivesChange and #NLW14. Hey! We can’t let the president and the celebrities have all the fun!
Learn more about NLW at http://www.ala.org/conferencesevents/celebrationweeks/natlibraryweek
Remember, the college will be closed on Friday, April 18 so be sure to stop by before closing on Thursday!
In recognition of Good Friday and Easter, all CPCC libraries will be closed for the weekend from April 18-20. Sorry for any inconvenience, but enjoy your Easter break!
The Cato Library now has a new Part Time Librarian. John Andresen joined the staff on March 4. He recently moved to Charlotte from Birmingham, AL, where he spent most of his life. He has his MLS from the University of Alabama and is excited to be a part of CPCC. Additionally, John is interested in reading (of course), music, and movies, and he loves to travel. Please come by and introduce yourself if you’re in the library!
John is here to help you: Monday: 10-6 Tuesday: 10-3 Wednesday: 10-3 Thursday: 11-6
Encore is the library’s innovative online catalog. Use it to find books, eBooks, videos, articles, and more. You can even book a study room. You’re also able to renew books that you have checked out and put books on hold so no one else will check it out before you can get to the library. Ask a librarian if you need any help!
Have a group project and need a space to work together? You can now book a study room online using Encore, the library search engine. In Encore, just search for “study room” and click “Book it” for the study room you would like to reserve, whether at Cato, Levine, or Central. You will see a list of available dates and times. The Cato study room has a projector, and you are able to check out a laptop from the library.
