For Fall of 2015, the Interior Design Program has undergone several minor but important curriculum changes. Please click on “Interior Deign Programs” in the black horizontal bar above for info on the new curriculum.
It is with regret that we are suspending the 1st Thursday Info Sessions. We are hoping to bring them back before registration for fall. Check back occasionally for updates.
New, interested and prospective students are invited to attend our First Thursday Information Session the first Thursday of each month from 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm. Present will be a representative from each program available to answer questions and offer career advice. Tours of our facilities will also be conducted for those interested. Location will be room LT 2003 of the Livine Tech Building on Central Campus. Contact Becky Barran at 704.330.6189 for additional info.
BIM is an acronym for Building Information Modeling. It describes the process of designing a building collaboratively using one 3D computer model rather than as separate sets of drawings.
BIM is essentially the new CAD. And for a successful career in the building design and construction fields, a well-grounded education in BIM is becoming increasing important. With this in in mind we in the Architectural Technology Program at CPCC have developed the DIPLOMA IN BIMto serve the needs of regional design firms, construction companies, and those with a desire to work in this exciting and growing field.

CPCC Interior Design Graduate awarded 1st Prize in 2013 Southern Spring Home and Garden Show IDS Showhouse
Ruth McKinney was awarded 1st prize in 2013 Southern Spring Home and Garden Show IDS Showhouse. Ms. McKinney, a CPCC 2010 Interior Design graduate, is currently the proprietor of McKinney Design (http://www.mck-design.com).
The theme of the 2013 Southern Spring Home and Garden Show was “Hollywood and Vines”. Ms. McKinney drew inspiration for her award winning room from the 1999 version of the movie The Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan and Renee Russo.
Ms. McKinney shared how her design came together: “As soon as I thought of the movie, I knew I had to use Magritte’s Son of Man above the mantle (anyone who has seen the movie knows why) and it was clear that the room needed to be a sophisticated (and wealthy) bachelor’s study. With the help of vendors who loaned and/or donated their products and services – furniture and accessories, area rug, window treatments and framing – the room came together better than I imagined!”
